Paul, who was also called Saul

The following is a listing of facts included in Bible stories about Paul.  Teach the children in your class about People of the Bible by using these facts in a Bible Drill or to play a game of Who Am I?.  Go to People of the Bible for facts about other people.

I threatened to kill the Lord's followers.  Acts 9:1.

While I was traveling to Damascus, a bright light flashed from heaven, Jesus appeared and asked "Why do you persecute me?".  After this happened, I could not see.  Acts 9:3-8.

God chose me to speak about him to the Gentiles and their kings and the people of Israel.  Acts 9:11-15.

Jesus sent Ananias to me in Damascus so that I could see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.  Acts 9:17.

After I was filled with the Holy Spirit in Damascus, I began to preach that Jesus is the son of God.  Acts 9:19-20.

Barnabas took me to the apostles and told them how I preached fearlessly about Jesus Christ.  Acts 9:27

I spent many years traveling from place to place, preaching about Jesus Christ and strengthening the faith of the disciples and the churches.  People today call my travels missionary journeys.  Acts 14:19-22; 15:40-41; 18:23.

I was in jail one time when there was a violent earthquake and the doors flew open.  Instead of running, I stayed and told the jailer to believe in Jesus and he would be saved.  The jailer and his family were saved that night.  Acts 16:25-33.

The Jews did not like me because I preached that Jesus is the savior.  Acts 17:2-5; 18:5-6; 18:28.

The Jews stoned me.  Acts 14:19.

The Jews tried to kill me.  Acts 25:2-3.

I spent time in prison because I told people about Jesus.  Acts 25:16-21.

I was shipwrecked.  2 Corinthians 11:25.

I wrote letters to the disciples and churches that I visited to encourage them in their faith and teach them more about living godly lives.  Some of these letters are in the Bible.  They are titled Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon.  Romans 1:1; 1 Corinthians 1:1; 2 Corinthians 1:1; Galatians 1:1; Ephesians 1:1; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; 2 Thessalonians 1:1; 1 Timothy 1:1; 2 Timothy 1:1; Titus 1:1; Philemon 1:1.
